There's no business like snow business
Since I am only posting once a week
I thought I'd post the ones that are going into the paper for the holidays.
Since Thanksgiving is a week from today and the next scheduled strip
will appear on that day, I will post the one from last week's edition today
and the one that appears in today's paper, I will post tomorrow.
So, now that everyone is thoroughly screwed up and
I have made my intentions as clear as mud, read and enjoy.

We interrupt this posting...
Due to circumstances beyond our control,
additions to The Grand Life will be reduced to weekly postings,
unless I can think of something profound to say.
I don't see that happening, after all, who goes to a
cartoonist's blog for words of profound wisdom.
We will see what the brain fairy drops off.

Fire escape threat thwarted
I can read the headlines now,
"Thousands killed in fire at Walmart when the fleeing crowd
found their escape blocked by two old ladies talking"!
(I couldn't find "thwarted' in the dictionary, so I guessed)

A painful turn of events.
Just to make it clear, this is not based on an actual event,
but, since everyone in the cartoons are based on real live people,
I only used Tom and Christine because
they are too far away to hurt me.

The Grapes of Wrath..revisited
Seems like only yesterday that she didn't
want Mom or Dad to do anything for her.
All we heard was, "I'm a big girl! I can do it myself!"
Aaahh, for the return of those days!
Seems the older they get the more dependent they become!
Believe you me, when I turn 100 I intend to get even.

A walk in DUUH park
Sometimes the old boy can be so dense
it's amazing he fathered 1 child let alone 3!
a few years ago, June 1969 to be more precise,
when I was a young man, the beautful young lady
I was with suggested we go to the bedroom,
to which I replied, "why?".
There was no return engagement.

The art of compromise
True compromise is an art,
as you can tell George is no artist.
but figured someone would point out that I had misspelled "artist".
Turned out I was right..
spellcheck pointed out I had misspelled "artist".

A sure thing
I once had a garage like George's closet,
but it is easier to draw a closet full of stuff
than a large garage.

There appears to be a problem with my scanner so I am unable

much to fix the problem and, hopefully I'll be back soon.
Thanks,

Art imitates life..sometimes
The scariest thing about this cartoon is
that it is based totally on truth!
There is a commercial here that says those exact words.
That isn't the scary part. the scary part is
that the dialogue attributed to Scooter are the exact thoughts that
went through my mind when I first heard the commercial.
The saddest part is that they did not remain thoughts.

Cartooning: The next generation
While we were visiting our family in Mississippi, my grandson, Connor, sat next to me as I worked on my strip. I looked over and, to my surprise, saw he was working on one of his own!! That was really a unique experience I will treasure forever. Me and my grandson sharing a moment together. He just turned 9 and can draw circles around me when I was that age.

Better late than never
The next several posts are out of sequence.
They should have appeared sometime back
as they deal with Breanna's turning goth,
which, by the way, has since passed.
I have recently got them back as they were elsewhere and
couldn't be located.

Why God made Editors
To some of you this particular post may appear familiar, as well it should as it was originally posted on Monday, November 24, 2008. Unfortunately, when I sent it to the paper last week the editor noticed one comment, made in the second panel, was dated, and therefore shouldn't be printed. She sent it back.
After the initial embarrassment wore off I went back and checked the other cartoons and found several others that were in need of change. It taught me that it is a good idea, if I am going to deal with current events, to make sure that they are; 1. Current and 2. Proofread by someone other than me.
A person is never too old to learn.
Besides, the change made the cartoon usable any time.
