It is said that, "For all things there is a reason!"
Whoever said this never met Gizmo!

Why God made Editors

To some of you this particular post may appear familiar, as well it should as it was originally posted on Monday, November 24, 2008. Unfortunately, when I sent it to the paper last week the editor noticed one comment, made in the second panel, was dated, and therefore shouldn't be printed. She sent it back.
After the initial embarrassment wore off I went back and checked the other cartoons and found several others that were in need of change. It taught me that it is a good idea, if I am going to deal with current events, to make sure that they are; 1. Current and 2. Proofread by someone other than me.
A person is never too old to learn.
Besides, the change made the cartoon usable any time.

Charley Brown in the 21rst century!!

I'm sure everyone, at one time or another, has felt this way.
But, in George's case, it is more truth than fiction!

Others voluntarily stumble through.

Salute to Abbott and Costello's "Who's On First"

One day this actually happened in a roundabout way. I had heard someone say Hussein's name repeatedly and thought it sounded more like a question than a proper name. One thing led to another and voila! The birth of an idea.

If, by chance, you are not familiar with that of which we speak, Google "Who's On First" video on YouTube and enjoy!!

My 5 minutes of fame

Found this at AOL Video and thought I'd share it with everyone. Kind of neat. Although it was made and aired last year it is still pretty neat to think it was done at all.

Old Friends pt. 2

In the low desert there was not the accessibility to modern conveniences that we enjoy today and most of us take for granted. Pictured is the local bus, the mail delivery vehicle, as well as the grocery truck that would drive to San Bernardino, pick up groceries, supplies and so forth then drop them off at Bagley's Market, where the locals would gather and pick up their orders.

Discovering 2 old friends

While visiting our grandchildren in Mississippi, I was happy to see that my oldest daughter, Tracy Barron had found and hung on her wall two pen & ink drawings I had drawn 20 some odd years ago. It was while we lived in 29 Palms, California. From an idea given me by my brother-in-law, Dave Stancliff, I did a series called, "Twelve Steps Through 29 Palms". Twentynine Palms was and is a little town in the desert right next to Joshua Tree. The area is full of history from its founding by Colonel Henry Washington in 1854 (depicted here), to the mounted manhunt to capture a killer named Willie Boy (made into a movie starring Robert Blake as Willie Boy).
I will go into a little more detail on tomorrow's posting of the other drawing.

The truth can hurt

Although meant to be cute and funny, I have found that lately this little ditty has proven to be more true to life than I like.
